Horses of Course
Nearly 50 people turned out for horse-drawn sleigh rides at Roy and Pam Sherrer’s farm in South Mountain, Feb. 13, an event organized by the Eastern Ontario Horses of Course Club. Several members from the region brought teams and sleighs. (Left photo) Among the horses was this pair of Clydesdales - Winston and Max - owned by Wyatt McWilliams of Navan (front, left), posing with Roy Sherrer (right). On the sleigh are McWilliams’ daughter, Brenna, 15, and Bob Plamondon.Involving all horse breeds, 38 families belong to the club, which Sherrer founded in 2000 to share knowledge about harness and saddle fitting as well as the other arts of equine ownership. The club’s next big event is an April 24 tack sale at Rooney Feeds in South Gower. It also plans to put on an educational display about all kinds of horse breeds at the upcoming June 29-30 rodeo at the Chesterville fairgrounds.
