KEMPTVILLE - The College Royal, part trade show, part open house, part agricultural competition but mostly a showcase for student organizational skills and plain old school spirit, runs Fri., March 12 and Sat., March 13 at the WB George Centre and AM Barr Arena here.
The Royal has several components, not the least of which is the College Career Fair and Trade Show in the George Centre. The event is designed to highlight exhibitors’ goods and services and provides an opportunity for them to recruit summer or permanent employees from the college’s student body and area high school students.

Livestock Show
The College Royal Livestock Committee invites youth between the ages of 10 and 21 to participate in the College Royal Junior Showmanship Challenge. College students will have dairy heifers, beef heifers, and sheep fitted and ready for exhibitors to show on Sat., March 13 in the Barr Arena. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a friendly competition with the different types of livestock. Pre-registration is appreciated. Food Nutrition and Risk Management
The college’s Food Nutrition and Risk Management students will have displays in the Barr Arena from noon to 4 p.m. March 12 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 13. Topics of the displays include food diet fads, vegetarianism, crazy food demonstrations, and "How Do They Do That?".
Food Nutrition and Risk Management students will also be preparing food for the canteen in the information center in the George Centre.
Royal Banquet and Calf Raffle
Kemptville College alumnus and well known comedian Paul Mussell will be the master of ceremonies at the Royal Banquet Sat., March 13. MP Scott Reid will be the guest speaker for the evening.
Students are selling tickets on a registered Holstein heifer. Tickets are $5 each and the winner has the choice of the heifer or $500 in cash.
The evening will conclude with a dance featuring DW James. Advance tickets are required. For ticket information call the College Royal Hotline 1-613-258-8336 ex 281.
Hockey, Broomball Tournaments
The 2004 Royal will feature an Alumni Hockey Tournament March 12 and Alumni Broomball Tournament March 13. The tournaments provide an excellent opportunity for graduates to meet with old friends while enjoying some friendly competition. Alumni interested in playing hockey can call Paul Mussell, 826-2959, and broomball Darcy Smith, 258-8336 ex 588.
