Agriculture Agri-Food Canada has authorized an extension of the repayment deadline for the 1997 1998 corn advance payment program.

The deadline was extended to allow producers as much flexibility as possible in repaying advances due to depressed prices. Producers choosing to extend their repayment deadline must agree to pay interest costs beginning on Oct. 16, and to repay their advances in full by Dec. 31.. Advances made for on farm feeding are not eligible for an extension of the deadline. Producers can continue to make payments on the outstanding balance but will not be eligible for a 1998 1999 advance until the 1997 1998 advance is repaid in full.
