Grenville Federation of Agriculture
The Grenville Federation of Agriculture directors met at the Spencerville Town Hall on April 15. The Young Farmers Forum workshop was well attended with 31 participants
President Adrian Wynands, Bob Woolham and regional representative Geri Kamenz attended the April Eastern Summit held at KCAT. This day included a presentation by Sheila James, Farm Safety Representative on workplace safety and the insurance board.
In the afternoon Grenville director, Bob Woolham, gave a presentation on the heritage water systems.
The GFS directors are eagerly pursuing a Food Grains Bank project located beside the 3M plant near Brockville. Contact Lyle Johnston, Co-ordinator for further information.
Norm Kearney, project co-ordinator for Articulation 2000 was our evening speaker. This is a joint project of the Upper Canada District School Board and Kemptville College involving Grade 12 students. Contact Mr. Kearney at 258-8336 ext. 506 for further information.
The GFA is approaching each township in Grenville County asking to be involved in all agricultural related items.
The GFA directors support OATI's position on securing funding and will be approaching Lyle Vanclief and the Hon. Noble Villeneuve asking for their support. GFA director, Don Scott will act as the Grenville representative on the working committee for the Economic Impact of Agriculture study. He will work jointly with Leeds, Grenville, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington Counties to complete this study.
The GFA directors moved to donate $100 to the 1999 Grenville Plowing Match.
