Ontario Large Herd Operators invites interested dairy farm owners and managers to join their organization. The objective of the group is to provide education that is focused on the management of the dairy herd in free stall systems. The organizations strives to bring innovative technology and management concepts to the attention of producers and agribusiness by encouraging the adoption of new ideas in housing, nutrition, labour and business management.
Ontario Large Herd Operators have sponsored a number of high caliber conferences and tours since its inception in 1982. The organization is self supporting and is dedicated to introducing innovative dairy technology and contributing a larger commercial viewpoint to the industry dialogue.
The membership fee is $100 for three years or $50 per year. The membership includes a subscription to 12 issues per year of "Dairy Herd Management" magazine. This magazine is published in Kansas and is an excellent management focused magazine with lots of timely articles on innovative dairy ideas. As well members receive regular updates on activities and plans as well as priority advance registration and discounts on tours and conferences.
