I am a 4-H leader and association treasurer in Glengarry County, and I am surprised at what has happened in Frontenac County.
I am part of a small group in the association that has been trying to get the head office to investigate some of our leaders and association members for such things as:
- theft of association monies e.g. member fees, sponsor monies, fundraiser monies, etc
- bullying of members and their families
- abuse of animals
- unethical behaviour in other areas not directly associated with, but still having an impact on, 4-H members
Unfortunately, despite a lot of condemning evidence, Guelph's response to us was basically "we don't get rid of volunteers" and "this is happening everywhere".
I guess that for 4-H Ontario it doesn't really matter what you do, just don't piss off the staff!
